Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26. Taglit-Birthright Israel's founders created this program to send thousands of young Jewish adults from all over the world to Israel as a gift in order to diminish the growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world; to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry; and to strengthen participants' personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people.

The gift of the 10-day trip is being provided by our partners: private philanthropists through the Birthright Israel Foundation; the people of Israel through the Government of Israel; and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations through the United Jewish Communities (UJC), Keren Hayesod and the Jewish Agency for Israel). Please take a few minutes to learn more about our partners, especially your local Jewish Federation, which is your gateway to community involvement, continued learning and leadership opportunities.

New Eligibility Criteria

After careful consideration Taglit-birthright israel has altered some of their eligibility criteria. Please note the following:

Jewish – Definition:
Recognized as Jewish by the Jewish community or recognized as Jewish by one of the recognized denominations of Judaism. Where either parent is Jewish and the applicant does not actively practice another religion.

March of the Living:
Applicants who have gone on the March of the Living will be eligible to go on bri when they are 22 years of age and not before.  This means their application will be under review until bri has checked their age.

Maccabiah Games:
Applicants who have participated in the Maccabiah Games will be eligible.  A letter will be sent to past applicants who were made not eligible and are still of age for bri and let them know they can participate.
